Sightseeing in Paris
I spent last weekend in Paris with my friend Maren! I’ve actually been to Paris once before a few years ago for a class trip but never really got an opportunity to truly explore the city. Paris was absolutely wonderful…gorgeous architecture, yummy food/crepes/pastries, delicious wine, and stunning fashion!
Maren and I rented a cute, little apartment in the area of Montmartre, really close to the Moulin Rouge. It worked out perfectly and it was easy for us to get around. Plus, at night we could come home and not have to deal with the loudness of being in a hostel. Actually, this apartment cost less than a hostel in Paris!
The wonderful part about going to Paris in the middle of November is that it is pretty empty of tourists. We expected to wait at Musee d’Orsay, Versailles, and the Notre Dame. We got in right away to Musee d’Orsay and Versailles, and only had to wait about 20 minutes to climb the Notre Dame. Also, if you’re an EU resident/permanent citizen under the age of 26…almost all the tourist sites are free!!! We managed to get into everything except Palais Garnier for FREE (and we still got a discounted rate at Palais Garnier for being students)! Overall, we probably saved close to 50 Euros.
Below are some of the MUST-SEE landmarks when in Paris!

Musee d’Orsay
I was bad and snuck a picture even though it wasn’t allowed! But how could you resist taking a picture of this? This building is actually an old train station that was closed in 1939 due to having too short of platforms for the newer trains. Before becoming a museum, it was used during WWII as a mailing center and was also the setting for many movies. In 1986, Musee d’Orsay opened. It has the largest collection of impressionist/post-impressionist artwork including 24 works by Van Gogh and 86 works by Monet!
River Seine

Notre Dame
While standing in line at the Notre Dame, I pretended to be from the Hunchback of Notre Dame! Because when in Paris… :)

Jardin du Luxembourg
Arc de Triomphe
Eiffel Tower
Obviously saving the best – and most popular landmark – for last…the Eiffel Tower! I’d highly recommend going at sunset because the views are stunning!
Make sure not to miss these must-see landmarks when sightseeing in Paris! Is there anything that you would add to this list?
