4 Ways to Start the New Year Fresh and Keep it Fresh All Year Long

Image
I am not one for New Year’s resolutions. I never have been. It’s too much pressure! What I do love about a new year though is the hope that it brings. Every December 31st is a time for me to reflect on the good and bad things that happened that year and give me hope that the next year will be even better. It’s always a time of self-reflection and anticipation. This year I decided to make a conscience effort to be intentional about making those hopes a reality. It’s true that you can’t control every situation and you most certainly can’t control what people do or don’t do. But I do believe there are ways that you can meet the hope of a better year with actions to turn that hope into daily reality. Here are 4 ways to start the New Year fresh and keep it fresh all year long. 1.Only Do Things That Are in the Direction of Peace and Joy My husband and I celebrated our 8th anniversary on January 1st at the CityPlace Marriott at Springwoods Village. ...

Review: My Little Box Subscription Box May & June 2017

Image
Options for subscription boxes have grown significantly over the past few years, and I can say that I have flirted with a fair few.  Some I’ve loved, but my satisfaction has been short-lived.  That can be as a result of inconsistent selections, or simply because the box doesn’t meet my needs (I don’t wear much make up, for example).  But I’ve stuck with My Little Box for a long now, and can’t see that changing any time soon.  Here’s my review of the most recent boxes. My Little Box Subscription The My Little Box subscription costs £14.95 a month.  For that you get a selection of products: three skin care or make up items, and three other items, ranging from homeware to jewellery and stationery.   While I don’t love every item or indeed every box, this subscription has introduced me to my current favourite perfume (Courreges La Fille de L’Air) and some great moisturisers (My Little Box’s own brand My Little Beauty).  It’s also stocked my bags with a variety of product...

Only you can do something for yourself

Ahhh!  We love to think that someday things will change.  One day I will do what I always dreamed of. One day I will have everything I want. One day I will have a better job. One day I will get promoted (with a better salary, of course). One day I will win the lottery. One day I will have my own business. One day I will find the love of my life. One day I will have more time for my family. One day I will have a relationship with God. One day I will be free. One day I will get out of this hole. One day I will be happy.  One day everybody will change.  People surrounding me will do what I want. That day, my life will be different. Sadly, for many, that day never arrives. Their hope is based on receiving good things through that old friend we call luck. They think that no actions (doing nothing) will bring them good results. Supposedly, friends and family are required to help them achieve what they want. If luck and others do not please them, then life is hateful, oppressive and unfair....

What’s In My Bag: Backpack Edition

Image
It’s an old one, this, but still a good one.  There is nothing quite so satisfying as seeing what people tote/backpack/crossbody with them in their everyday life.  Like most people, the contents of mine vary by bag, and this Fiorelli backpack is probably averagely sized for me.  So let’s dive in. Structure wise, the bag has two main zipped compartments, a large zipped pocket on the front, and a vertical zipped pocket on the back.  Inside the rear compartment, there are two slip pockets and one zipped pocket. What does it have in its pocketses? The front zipped pocket contains the things I need easy access to.  So that’s my house and car keys, my ID and pass card and my Kate Spade cardholder (debit card and train tickets usually). Main compartments For the main compartments, I keep what I’d call my less-essentials in the front compartment of the two.  It’s here that I will search to lighten the load before leaving the house if the bag is too heavy, or ...
